In Volume 1 we published twenty high quality scientific papers in mathematics. Most of these papers were presented at the 6th Slovenian International Conference in Graph Theory at Lake Bled in 2007 putting the bias of this first volume towards discrete mathematics. In view of the existing pool of already submitted manuscripts, this is likely to continue in the immediate future. However, we expect a gradual change through actively encouraging submission of manuscripts covering either more general mathematical grounds or reaching across a single mathematical topic. Our main objective is to publish high quality research in pure and applied mathematics. This is crucial in times when even some of the most prestigious publishing companies support journals publishing papers of dubious mathematical content. We are very proud that MathSciNet (Math Reviews) announced their cover-to-cover coverage of Ars Mathematica Contemporanea based on its internet contents even before the first issue was printed, and that the Zentralblatt Math is covering AMC even before Volume 1 is completed. We are aware of the fact that such recognition was only possible because of the excellent reputation of the mathematicians serving on the editorial and advisory boards of AMC. Of course, getting AMC on the Web of Science list remains one of our immediate goals too. We are grateful to our editors and advisors for their active support. In particular, we would like to thank them for their help in editing, refereeing and promoting the journal. In Volume 1 more than one fourth of all published papers have been authored by the members of the editorial and advisory boards. Furthermore, several authors and referees have shown very positive attitudes towards AMC, making a change in the structure of the editorial board very likely. Editors, authors and readers who would like to help AMC are encouraged to subscribe to the printed edition of the AMC and arrange for subscription from their local library. They are also encouraged to advertise their mathematical books, conferences, job offers, etc. The cost of advertisement is 1000 EUR per page with 50\% discount for anyone subscribed to AMC. \bigskip \noindent Dragan Maru\v{s}i\v{c} and Toma\v{z} Pisanski\\ \noindent Editors-in-Chief\\ \end{document}
